Moric Blaufrankish 2021
Roland Velich was convinced that Burgenland, Austria, with its moderate climate and cool autumn nights, had the potential to make exceptional red wines from blaufrankisch. Velich sought to focus on elegance and delicacy, citing classic Burgundy as a guide. The Moric Blaufrankish is made in an early-drinking style from 'younger' vines (10-50 years old) grown on limestone, primary rock, and loam from Neckenmarkt and Lutzmannsburg. Fermented in open vats and steel tank. A wonderful introduction to Roland's elegant take on Blaufrankisch with its signature characteristics of high-toned aromatic blue fruits, spice, and black tea. A wine that will drink now and age well for years to come.
