Scar of the Sea Pinot Noir SLO Coast San Luis Obispo County 2024
Mikey Giugni has done it again... The 2024 Scar of the Sea SLO Coast Pinot Noir exemplifies his commitment to terroir-driven winemaking. Sourced from biodynamically farmed Bassi and Casa Contenta vineyards near Avila Beach, as well as the organically farmed Marfarm Vineyard in Edna Valley, this wine showcases the diversity of the SLO Coast AVA. The grapes were fermented with native yeast, incorporating 25% whole clusters, and aged for eight months in neutral French oak barrels. The resulting wine presents aromas of wild red berries, ripe cherry, and subtle earthy undertones. On the palate, it offers flavors of cranberry, red currant, and a hint of savory spice, all balanced by bright acidity and a touch of coastal salinity, leading to a long, graceful finish.
