Rovellotti Ghemme 'Chioso Dei Pomi' 2015
The Rovellotti family traces its roots in Ghemme to the latter stages
of the 15th Century. The grapes for this fantastic wine come from a
single vineyard, "Chioso dei Pomi" located in the heart of Barragiola.
A Ghemme blend of 85% Nebbiolo and 15% Vespolina, created in stainless
steel tanks and then matured in large Slavonian barrels for over 12
months before bottling. Then Paolo and Antonello Rovellotti hold the
wine for at least 9 months in bottle prior to release. The result is
gorgeous, supple Ghemme with purity of fruit at the fore. The elegance
of this Nebbiolo-based wine is impossible to ignore with its layers of
complex flavors...incense, dark berries, tar, and dried rose petals.
This is wide open and delicious wine that deftly showcases raspberry
fruit, cinnamon, burning embers, boysenberry and dusty tannins.
Extremely long finishing, this will knock the doors off of most Barolo
twice the price. Phenomenal value here!
