Roagna Langhe Rosso 2017
A traditional, old-school producer delivers this wine that is like baby-Barolo for a sliver of the price. Roagna considers these young vines -- a mere 20 years of age -- too young to put into the Barolo. Regardless, no one can doubt that using magnificent cru like Rocche di Castiglione and Paje to make Langhe Nebbiolo this good is a steal for the price. Red berries, spice, woodsy aromas, smoke and bits of porcini, this long finishing wine is the mirror image of excellent Barolo and I imagine it just might age as well also.
