Bodega de Forlong 'Petit Forlong" Tinto 2019
Spanish soils with a French slant, Rocio Aspera and Alenjandro Navraez
(who is half French) are a couple who own 14 hectares of vines in El
Peurto de Santa Maria. With the goal of making French inspired wines on
the very particular Albariza soils that proliferate in the area, they
have made something really special. These powdery white soils are
chalky and transmits minerals while retaining moisture in the very hot
climate. This wine is 60% Merlot, 30% Syrah and 10% Tintilla fermented
in clay amphora and spending a short stint in barrique for 6 months
resulting in a wine that is truly lovely...waves of blackberry, plums,
minerals, and a hint of currants with violet aromatics. A delicious
wine to enjoy now through 2026.
