My Favorite Italian Value Wine of the Last Year No Lie
I adore Italian wines. Just in general, I have always been a Francophile and those wines are the ones that I really cut my teeth on in the wine business. But as time has gone by my love of Italian wines has just picked up more and more steam. And just as my first love was French Pinot Noir, my first Italian wine love was Nebbiolo. The transparency those two grapes from their classic regions display just check all the boxes for me. But this wine we feature today checks every single box and even some others that I didn't consider. It is so lovable -- but I hesitate to use that word as I feel it conveys simplicity. Far from it, this is complex and in the context of grape, place and PRICE, it kills everything...and I do mean everything. If you were to take a look at my purchase history over the last 6 months since I first tasted the Terenzi Morellino di Scansano 2018, it probably is every 3rd purchase in my list. It's all Sangiovese that is great with pizza, pasta, chicken, pork, lamb, mushrooms, steak, rabbit (especially good) duck -- you get the picture. We have 10 cases arriving today. If y'all leave any behind at the end of the day, I'll grab some for myself. I'm not kidding. I love it. Best, Joe $18 per bottle - $16.75 each on 6 bottles - $15.50 each on a case of 12.
