2009 Domaine Guintrandy Olivier Cuilleras Cotes du Rhone Villages "Visan" Vieilles Vignes
Perfectly marrying the old-school traditions with the ripe, lively 2009 vintage, this wine from Visan is made by Olivier Cuilleras. A sixth generation winemaker, he has learned the craft well from his forefathers of allowing the wine to just make itself. A blend of 90% Grenache from 90 year old vines with 5% Carignan and 5% Syrah, there is a beautiful core of ripe cherry fruit, black cherry pie, leather and kirsch with just a hint of rusticity in the finish. Framed by supple tannins this is a tasty treat to enjoy now while the Chateauneuf gets needed rest.
