Beautiful Cabernet Blend from Washington State - DuBrul Vineyards Carriage House 2008 Just tasted this beautiful Cabernet Blend from tiny DuBrul Vineyards in the Yakima Valley at a trade tasting and was totally won over! Deep ruby color, dark fruit tones of cassis, plum, lead pencil, earth, and hints of vanilla. On the palate it is supple and silky, with plush mouth-filling dark fruits and supple tannins. A great example of just how good Bordeaux Bends can be from Washington! All Estate grown in the Dubrul Vineyard overlooking the Yakima River which is situated on a basalt promontory with sweeping views over the Valley. The steep slopes are south facing and made up of alluvial fan deposits with a layer of loess (wind-deposited silt most likely left over from the Missoula floods) with some volcanic ash completing the makeup of the terroir. They planted the vineyard in 1992, and along with making their own superb wines have sold grapes to some of the top wineries in the state. They have been recognized as Washignton State "Winery of the Year" among many other accolades. A classy, delicious and ready to drink Bordeaux Blend just in time for spring and summer grilling!
