Giacomo Conterno Barolo Monfortino Riserva - 2005
Giacomo Conterno's Monfortino is one of the benchmark Barolos - powerful, long-lived and exquite. The wine is aged six years in barrel and one in bottle before release. The 2005 vintage is ripe and full in character, with wealth of red and black fruit, concentrated notes of leather, spice, tar, licorice and an eternally long, elegant finish, layered, focused - the very essence of Nebbiolo, dried roses, flowers, spice, it goes on and on! But have patience - this needs time to evolve. Put it in the cellar and faghettaboutit!
